Just as important as the top layer in your bedding is what lies beneath your sheets

BRRRR!!!! Is it just us, or has winter come even earlier this year?

As the cooler weather sets in, we know how important it is to layer up our clothes to keep warm, but do you also make changes to your home decor?

You can take some simple steps to seamlessly transition your home from a summer entertaining space into a cozy warm retreat.

1. Layer up

There is nothing better than snuggling under a lovely warm quilt on a chilly night. With the temperatures plummeting, it's time to retire the summer quilt for another year and replace them with your warmest winter quilt. We love the Dual Layer Quilt as it traps pockets of air between its layers to keep you warm and cosy all night long!

Just as important as the top layer in your bedding is what lies beneath your sheets:

  • Mattress Topper: This protective layer will fight off all those tiny dust mites that can cause allergies while adding a cloud-like cushiness to your bed!

  • Mattress Protector: Your Protector will keep your mattress looking brand new by absorbing any sweat and germs before they soak through to your mattress.

  • Underlay: Made from wool, an Underlay will keep your body temperature regulated so you don't freeze in winter or get too hot and sweaty in summer.

2. Swap your sheets

Light cotton is a great, breathable fabric to have on your bed in the warmer months, but with the changing season, you should also think about changing your sheets. Jersey is an old favourite, and its soft t-shirt fabric offers extra comfort and warmth!

3. Add a throw

Everyone's guilty winter pleasure is settling on the couch under a blanket and watching a good movie... preferably with popcorn. Make sure there is always a throw rug handy by styling one over the couch arm. With a clever selection, your stylish throw can also be used as a blanket on many occasions.

4. Light it up

As most of us in Australia don't have an open fireplace in our homes, the closest we can come to the crackle and warmth of a fire is a gentle flicker of candlelight. Lighting a few candles in your home in winter will instantly add warmth and charm. Try some friendly fragrant candles like musk, vanilla, cinnamon or sandalwood to embrace that cosy cottage feel. If you're one of the lucky ones with a fireplace, try not to make the rest of us too jealous!

5. Rug up

Hate stepping onto a cold floor on a chilly winter morning? Try laying down a floor rug.
We love the Baxter Floor Rug for its soft and cosy feel.

6. Create a winter colour scheme

Breakthrough the dull grey winter days by accenting your home in the on-trend shades of the season. Try the cosy embossed pinsonic textures of Winston, the eye-catching pop of purple of Audrey in a gorgeous jersey fabric, or add some luxury to your space with the stunning linen NOOK Elayna in espresso.
