5 bedroom ‘must-haves’ for a healthy night’s sleep

Good quality sleep is vital when it comes to maintaining your body and mind. While you sleep, your body is working to repair and regenerate cells and support healthy brain function. Studies show that the quality and quantity of sleep in Australia has declined over the past few decades. 32% of Australian adults are currently getting less than the recommended 7-8 hours of sleep per night and 66% are waking between 1 and 3 times per night. Bedding matters when it comes to getting a good night’s sleep. Finding the correct bedding items for both you (and your partner’s) sleeping style can help you get a better night’s sleep which means better overall health and wellness.

Improve your snooze by adding these items to your bedroom:

Go for comfort

Dressing your bed with lofty mattress toppers and woollen underlays increase comfort and sleep quality and can also increase blood circulation, which in turn helps reduce tossing and turning during the night.

Cool that hot body down

Our bodies need to reach a lower temperature for our brain to recognise it’s time to go to sleep. Look for products that help regulate your temperature and actively absorb and store body warmth such as Thermal Balancing and 100% woollen underlays and quilts as they aid in this process, helping you fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer.

Win the Pillow Fight

Sleeping on the wrong pillow can contribute to neck and shoulder pain, headaches and poor-quality sleep. Choose a pillow that’s comfortable and supports you in your favourite sleeping position and replace it as soon as it is no longer providing adequate support. Memory Foam and Latex pillows are soft yet supportive, can help relieve pressure points and have a much longer lifespan than fibre pillows.

Snooze, don’t sneeze

It’s hard to sleep soundly when you know that there are millions of dust mites living, breeding, excreting and dying in the average mattress and that after 1 year, a pillow will have increased in weight by approximately 10%. Mattress toppers, quilts, pillows and protectors that have been treated with anti-dust mite treatments such as Bio-Fresh™ and Greenfirst® are a healthy option for everyone and especially those suffering from asthma or allergies.

Create a healthy haven

Transform your bedroom into a quiet, clean and calming space. Get rid of the clutter and freshen up your space with beautiful quilt covers, cushions and throws to create a healthy sanctuary that triggers your brain to relax, unwind and get ready for sleep.
